Meeting Minutes- September 12, 2022

  1. Call to order at 6:30pm
  2. Attendance: Kim and Tracy Stringfellow, Brad and Leslie Boyd, Shirley Vogel, Jodi Lapham, Sara Calderon, Erick and Jessie Trusty, April Maldonado, Kristi Miller, Mary and Tim Owen, Jessica and Mike Emery.
  3. Previous meetings’ minutes posted to website.
  4. Treasurer’s report-
    1.  Checking-$36,314.61
    2. Savings- $4,604.45
    3. Venmo- $215.00 transferred to account from Friday night
    4. Petty cash- $300.00
  5. Old Business
    1. Merchandise- hats from BSN will be delivered this week. Oriental Trading company trinkets were ordered and will arrive next Monday (pom poms, noise makers, tatoos). Suggestion made that if a special t-shirt is ordered in the future to ensure the information gets to teachers.  They like to participate and may increase our sales.
    2. Varsity leadership retreat to Ft Sill
      1. Date- September 26th– 0800 departure and return prior to 8th period. Communication about event was sent via sports you to inform players and parents.
    3. Friendship Festival- October 1- fees paid.
  6. New Business
    1. Homecoming parade- Sept 21 @6pm. Will need 4 trailers for 7-12th grade football players. Lapham offered to drive a truck. Trusty’s may have a trailer.  Those present encouraged to ask around for long trailers to make sure we can accommodate all teams.  Decorations will be needed too.   Boosters will purchase bulk candy for players to throw but parents will also be encouraged to send candy with their player.
    2. Game day:
      1. Spike- volunteers in place.
      2. Horn- covered.
    3. Team Dinner- sign up posted on Facebook.
      1. Redneck Cooking team will provide food on Oct 6th
      2. Mrs. Kou has volunteers from SAFB to provide pulled pork sandwiches on Sept 22.
      3. First Burk Men’s Cooking Team has offered to provide a meal but is still pending a date.
      4. Pending response from Whataburger on team dinner and Oh What a Night event.
    4. Coaches Lunch- Sept 17- Brianna Fischer (Coach Russell)
    5. Locker rooms
      1. JV- sign up posted
      2. Varsity- sign up posted
      3. Discussion about extend of decorations in the varsity locker room. Due to cost and mess it creates in the locker room, it was scaled back this year.  However, we may consider a couple of games to decorate.

    1. Extra senior schedule posters are available to those that want one, free of charge.
  2. Coach’s report (Coach Boyd)
    1. Things are going well.
    2. Schedule changes:
      1. JV Black will play at 5pm Thursday in Jacksboro since Bowie only has 1 JV team. JV Orange game will be moved up to 5pm vs Bowie at home.
      2. Varsity will play in Bowie on Friday night at 7:30pm instead of 7:00pm due to change made by Bowie football coach.
        1. Link to ticket sales is on Sports You and the Booster Facebook page. Game will also be live streamed on Communication Bowie ISD You Tube page.
      3. Request to provide meal to varsity players prior to Alvarado game due to long travel. Boosters will organize the pre-game meal.
